flats

I usually don't write reviews on things, just because the reason for this blog is to print it off after a year or two and remember all the good times/things going on in our life. Getting shoes doesn't really fit into that category! That being said though, I recently ordered some flats that are just too comfortable not to review. (I'll probably delete this post after a few weeks. :) )
I've been on the look out for brown flats for awhile, just haven't bitten the bullet and bought a pair. I found these on Zappos and decided they looked nice (and they also had great reviews) so I decided to order. I'm glad I did! They are super comfortable! If you are on the lookout for new flats, I would recommend these! Click here to check them out!

Stitch Fix...Again!

I decided to start up Stitch Fix again...I kind of missed getting the fixes when I stopped! So, without further ado, here is my latest fix.

1. Cube Print Faux Wrap Dress $78.00 - Returned     I liked it, just not not enough for the price. And plus, it was a bit shorter than I like. I teach kinders, so when I think about clothes, I tend to think about how they'd fair with bending over and kneeling on the floor.

2. Lex Textured Knit Dress $74.00 - Returned.    Again, too short.

3. Knit Cardigan $48.00 - Kept      I know I'll wear it in the winter as well as the summer! Here, I paired it with a belt, just to spruce it up a bit.

4. Funnel Neck Sweatshirt $64.00 - Returned    I like the idea of "dress" sweatshirts, since I like wearing them on casual Fridays. This one though, was a bit on the tight side and I just wasn't all that fond of it.

5. Split Neck Blouse $48.00 - Returned     I liked it, but I don't have enough things to go with it!

Stitchfix #10

My Stitchfix boxes have not been, well, very good lately. Am I getting pickier? Maybe. Am I getting tired of Stitchfix? Maybe. Anyways, let's jump right in.
Item #1: Blue Blazer. The fabric reminded me of something I would guess would be in style 20-30 years ago. Sending back. Plus, I don't have much that would go with it...

Item #2: Black/Grey Sweater. Too boxy. Sending back.

Item #3: Plaid Shirt. It was okay, but almost every store has these plaid shirts...for a lot cheaper. Sending back.

Item #4: Blanket Scarf. I was really excited about this because I love scarves and I've seen some really cute blanket scarves. This one, though, I wasn't crazy about. I couldn't wear black with it, and I don't have any dark blue dress pants or skirts. (If I was keeping the scarf, I would want to be able to wear it to school and on Sundays...not just with jeans.) Sending back.

Item #5: Rust Colored Skinny Pants. This is the one thing I did keep! I find myself wearing boots almost every day to school. And I have a lot of black tops so these would look nice with a black top and black boots. Keeping.

I decided to stop Stitchfix now until at least after the Holidays. We'll see if I start up again in January. Like I've mentioned before, I've been disappointed in my boxes lately so...they've been fun, but we'll see if they continue. :)

Stitch Fix #9

I was a little disappointed in my fix this time. I had requested warm, cozy clothes since it soon will be winter in North Dakota. I do feel my stylist sent warm clothes, I just didn't find myself loving the choices she picked.
Item #1: Winter Coat. It was very soft and felt very warm but last year I splurged on a really nice North Face coat that is about the length of this blue coat. So I decided against this one. Plus, I didn't love it. Returning.
Item #2: Purple Sweater. It was just okay for me. Kind of a boxy fit and I didn't think I liked it enough to spend $78 on it. Returning.
Item #3: Sweater Dress. I'm on the fence for this one. (I haven't checked out yet.) It is slightly form fitting but it is a thick material and it's long, which I really like. I wear lots of black in the winter, so maybe wear it with a vest? or jean jacket? But then would I get too hot? If you are reading this before Sunday (11-1-15), your opinion is wanted!
Item #4: Vest. Just didn't like. Returning.
Item #5: Fingerless Gloves. My fingers are the coldest part of my hands during the winter months, so why would I keep these? I could maybe wear them now, or in the spring... Returning.

Stitch Fix #7

I was deep cleaning our house all day (since the cats got the boot two days ago) so I really wasn't up for getting my picture taken in all the new clothes. I just really was not feeling very photogenic! My snap chats were proof of that...! :)
Item #1: Boot Cut Jeans: kept - I forgot to take a picture! But they were just a dark wash with no fading. Very professional and very comfortable so I kept them.
Item #2: Jacket: kept - I know I'll wear it a lot with black pants/skirts and plus I love to layer in the winter so I thought it would be a good addition to my closet.
Item #3: Black/Grey shirt: returned - It was a bit on the short side and the tight side. I could see myself wearing it now, but it had no room to shrink.
Item #4: Infinity scarf: returned - I just didn't really like it. And I didn't have much that would go with it...
Item #5: Striped dress: returned - The fabric was a bit too thin for my liking, as well as a bit too form fitting.
I was kind of disappointed with this fix with not keeping many pieces from it, but, on the other hand maybe our bank account was thankful for this fix?! :)

Stitch Fix #6

I'm just going to jump right into it!
Item #1: Paisley dress shirt - kept. I just really liked it! It's comfortable, not tight, and I don't have anything navy blue in my closet.

Item #2: khaki vest - kept. My stylist suggested pairing it with the dress shirt above, but I didn't really like that. So I pinterested and found that it'll go on top of jean. I also saw it worn a lot with a black/white striped shirt.
Item #3: scarf - kept. So warm and cozy!
Item #4: Skinny Jeans - kept. It seems like in every stitch fix box my stylist has sent skinny jeans...and I keep sending 'em back. But these ones, they are so comfy so I decided to keep them.

Item #5: Suede dress - kept. I wasn't crazy about this dress, but it just made sense to keep it since I kept everything else and if you keep everything, you get 20% off. (So total it was cheaper to keep it.) Still deciding what to put with it so any suggestions are welcome! :) Also, why are unposed pictures sometimes better than posed?!

So yep, I kept everything in this fix!

Another Fix!

With the start up of another school year, came another start up - Stitch Fix! As mentioned in earlier posts, I didn't really have a reason to keep getting Stitch Fix over the summer since I wore basically shorts and t-shirts every day. (Which was so nice, but it sure is exciting waiting for these fix boxes to arrive every month!)
I had some good luck this time, and I ended up wearing the first outfit to my kindergarten meet and greet today. (Don't mind the awkward stances..definitely do not know the best way take pictures! Besides the stance to the side - much more flattering.) Also, hubby was taking these in between coughs, sneezes, and nose blowing AND I had to stand in an area where he didn't have to get out of bed. (He's sick. icky.)
Piece #1: Diamond Wrap Dress - kept! I took it out of the box and I know I said "....ew," but then tried it on and I loved it!
Piece #2: Denim Jacket - kept! When I saw I got a jean jacket, I thought for sure I would send it back because I already have one. But then this style and fit ended up being a little different than my other one so I kept it!

Piece #3: White Blouse - returned. I liked it, but I didn't like it enough. It was a little tight in some areas and it also was wrinkly, a sign that I would probably need to iron it a lot. (...and I don't have an iron...which would have been a problem.)

Piece #4: Straight Leg Pants - returned. They sure were comfortable, but I didn't feel like they fit me the best. They just weren't the right length. They either needed to be a little longer or a little shorter.

Piece #5: Striped Top - kept! It fit nice and I wear black pants and capris a lot so it'll be a great addition to my closet.

Stitch Fix #4

I received a stitch fix last Thursday....and it seems like we were so busy bustling around getting things ready to go to my in-laws the next day that I didn't get a chance to take pictures! All my previous stitch fixes I had marked down on the calendar when they would be arriving. This one though, I completely forgot it would be showing up so it was a wonderful surprise when I saw the box! Just shows how quickly April sped by for us.
This time around was the first time I requested something: black capri's. Here they are, shown below. I love them. The shirt is from The Nines, my new favorite boutique store. (For my May stitch fix I requested summer-y, comfy, casual clothes. I'm excited to see what my stylist will put together!)
I also received a purple blouse that I kept. I have absolutely nothing purple in my closet, so I thought it'd be a nice addition!
There were two tank tops blouses in the box but I like blouses/shirts/tanks that are a little longer - and the ones I got hit right at my waist. I also wasn't fond of the print. Lastly, the fifth item I received was a royal blue blazer. I just didn't think I would wear it enough or have enough things in my closet to go with it so it was shipped back.
I've decided May will be my last stitch fix until school starts up again in August. After graduating from college and landing my first teaching job, I really needed professional clothes and Stitch Fix was an awesome way to build up my professional dress wardrobe. Now that summer is almost here and I won't be teaching, I don't really think I need to be receiving any new clothes. I'll more than likely be throwing on t-shirts and shorts 99% of the time anyways.
Ahhh I can almost taste summer it's so close - 3 weeks left of school after this week!

Life Lately.

Well, the days just keep flyin' by here in western North Dakota and school wise, I've come to the conclusion that I really like this time of year. Conferences are done, academically the kids are where they need to be for 1st grade...which feels awesome, there are only 31 more days of school, the weather's getting nicer, and we started some units that are so much fun!
Right now we're doing the unit of dinosaurs so today the kids were "paleontologists" and "excavated" for "bones" in the "dirt" using their "tool". Translation: the kids each got a chocolate chip cookie and, using a toothpick, had to find chocolate chips which were the "bones". That was a lot of fun! Pictures of our art projects coming soon!
Life lately not pertaining to school? well....hmmm...school honestly takes up most of my energy and thoughts so I guess there's not too much that is new around this household! Still looking forward to our little guy arriving in May, the cats still are shedding an unimaginable amount (no more wearing black for us), and Aaron is still biding his time in the evenings working on 4-wheelers and dirtbikes. Fun fact: we currently have 10+ machines in our garage. I tell Aaron that if he starts filling up the space where my car parks, he will come home one night to find a pile of bent metal at the front of the garage and my car back in it's place. :)
I got my 3rd stitch fix a couple weeks ago and my thoughts were kinda....meh...on it. The first two items: the green sweater and striped dress shown below. It was the type of outfit were I liked the combo, but I didn't like the combo. In the end the thought of, I don't think I'll wear this enough, won out. This is what I like about stitchfix though - you try outfits and clothes that you originally probably would not have! The next thing in my box was the white and black shirt, which I kept. The things I did not keep were a pair of straight leg jeans - and I am not including a picture. :) Let's just say they were not flattering. And a necklace. The necklace was cute, and if I were a necklace wearing person, I probably would have kept it!

Stitch Fix #2

Today I received my second Stitch Fix! I've only been looking forward to it for a month! There were some keepers in the box, as well as some sender-backers. I got the first outfit tried on but then my photographer a.k.a. my hubby decided to go play in the garage. Oh well! I guess selfies will have to do.
1st item: Necklace - returned
2nd item: Blue/white maxi dress - kept! Finding dresses that are long enough is sometimes hard to do and this dress was definitely long enough. I know it will be worn lots this spring/summer/fall. (Jean jacket from last Stitch Fix)
3rd item: Skinny jeans - returned. They were really comfy, but, I already have a pair or skinny jeans (I don't wear them all that often) and the price was just a bit too high to keep them.
4th item: Grey cardigan - kept. I really have gotten into sweaters and cardigans this winter but this cardigan is thin enough I can wear it into the summer.
5th item: Light blue blouse - returned. Just didn't like it on me!
March Stitch Fix, I'm already looking forward to ya!

Stitch Fix #1

I discovered something new last month and I am loving it! Stitch Fix! I got my first "fix" today and am scheduled for another "fix" the end of February. I'm already excited! Out of the five things my stylist, Alexandra, picked out, I decided to keep two. It wasn't that I didn't like the other three items, I just didn't think they looked the best on me.
A couple of the style suggestions with the clothes that were sent.
The things I sent back. Loved the material, quality, and comfort of them...just didn't like what I looked like in them! :)
The jean jacket and dress I kept. I figure I can wear the dress in the
winter to school or in the summer. Pretty functional!
Two things I'm loving about StitchFix:
1. You can give your stylist your style Pinterest board link. So all those styles I'm drooling over on Pinterest, maybe a few will get in my closet! :)
2. I may get things in the mail that I originally wouldn't try if I saw in the store. Maybe I'll try some new styles that I will end up loving!
